As House Beautiful explains, “Babouche, School House White, Breakfast Room Green, Stone Blue, and Incarnadine have been named as the shades that will define 2022. Rooted in a feeling of folk and craftsmanship – with a versatile mix of function, form and comfort – each colour is anchored in a sense of comfortability and simplicity.”

Babouche

Babouche is a cheerful tone of yellow which takes its exotic name from the distinctive colour of the leather slippers worn by men in Morocco. It has a cheerful brightness that will intensify when used in large areas, for example as a bedroom or office colour.

School House White

School House White is explained to be the lightest colour in the group including Shadow White, Shaded White and Drop Cloth – each created to look like white when used in deep shade. As Farrow and Ball explains, “pared back, timeless and familiar without the cool undertones of the more contemporary neutral groups, this soft off white is reminiscent of the colour used in old school houses.” For those of you considering painting your home this Fall or coming Winter, this is an excellent shade to consider!

Breakfast Room Green

Breakfast Room Green is my absolute favourite colour from the bunch. This is such a lively and exciting colour that we haven’t seen too much of over recent years. As Farrow & Ball explains, “when used alone on both walls and woodwork it becomes incredibly striking.” I plan to incorporate this colour into my home office – whether it be as a feature wall colour or through pieces of furniture to bring some life into the room.

Stone Blue

This is another fabulous colour that I can’t wait to explore this coming year. As Farrow & Ball states, “this warm and timeless blue is named after the indigo pigment which was often imported in lumps in the 18th century. Stone Blue’s lively and saturated colour can be used alongside warmer tones such as Pelt to create an inviting vintage look, or the cooler Mole’s Breath for a cleaner, more contemporary feel. When contrasted with Dimpse woodwork, however, it feels both distinguished and familiar.”

Incarnadine

Last but not least, let’s dive into this incredible tone – Incarnadine. This is an edgy tone that can be used to bring a bold pop to any room. Whether you use this colour on your walls, or incorporate it with your furniture, it’s sure to bring in a certain spice. Personally, I think this would be stunning for a feature wall – think board and batten with this beautiful red.
