Back To School Is Here!

It’s back to school week which means getting back into the groove of things, with the addition of at home virtual classes this year!

If you haven’t purchased all of your childrens’ back to school items, I suggest checking out Staples where you can not only shop in store, but you can also place your order online. Should you be in need of any electronics to get your children set up for at home learning, you can also head to Best Buy. They currently have incredible deals on laptops, headphones, tablets, and more! Click here to check out the Best Buy website and to browse some items your kids will be needing this school year.

You may also want to head to Walmart to grab some back to school essentials like notebooks, pens, pencils, and so on. With a big selection and great prices, I recommend stopping by for your last minute back to school needs – just make sure to wear a mask!

Speaking of masks, this year your kids will need masks to take to school with them.

If you’re unsure where to purchases masks from, here are a few suggestions that will surely help! Old Navy has a ton of cute masks that are breathable, washable, and 100% cotton in kids and adult sizes. Click here to take a look. Aritzia also has great breathable masks, I personally have purchased a few from them and they are by far the best ones I’ve tried! The  material makes them easy to wear all day, and the adjustable straps around the ears let you achieve maximum comfort. Click here to take a look at their selection.

Finally, you’ll be needing a place for your kids to study at home with online learning being a big part of our lives this year.

If you’re thinking of making a few adjustments to their bedrooms to allow for a study area, here are some great tips you can incorporate:

  1. Set up a desk where they can do their zoom classes, or study! Purchasing a desk that also has organizational drawers is important as your kids will be spending a lot of time at their new ‘in home’ learning area. These drawers can be used to store everything from their school supplies, to laptops, headphones, and so on.
  2. For younger children, incorporate bright colours that will stimulate the brain and can help them retain information. Try green to help with focus or orange to boost the mood. Red is said to stimulate creativity, while blue is known for its calming effects! Take a look at classroom colour theory to learn more. (Information from SpaceWise)
  3. Make sure to also add a comfortable chair and a lamp to complete your study area. You can find comfortable chairs at Urban Barn, HomeSense, and IKEA to name a few. A reading lamp is also necessary as it will help create a warm atmosphere and protect little eyes from strain.

I hope these tips were helpful and you’re feeling back to school ready!
