Getting ready for summer

Summer is almost here! As the weather heats up, it’s time to get prepared for the new season! Here are some easy suggestions to keep your space looking great from June through September.

Keep it light

Use light colors, fabrics, and materials to brighten up your home during the summer months. If you have heavy drapes or fabrics that are blocking out natural light, consider removing them for the season! Personally, I love to bring out my light bedding, remove heavy duvets, and switch to my white throws over the warmer months.

Go for bright white

Adding in pops of white is an easy and refreshing way to bring the summer vibes into your home – think bright white pillows, throws, vases, curtains, towels, and so on. White is a great summer colour because it’s a neutral, and can be used to create a clean, fresh look.

Add extra seating

You can’t go wrong with extra seating – both indoors and outdoors. By extra seating I mean a stylish accent chairs in the living room, and comfortable yet chic outdoor chairs that will accommodate guests throughout the warmer months. Last summer I came across a very cute wicker chair and table combo on Amazon – I was speculating the quality would not be the best but was absolutely shocked when it arrived. Both of the chairs and the table are fantastic quality and look great on my living room patio. I’d say this set up actually gets the most compliments! If you’re interested, here is the link. If you’re in need of larger patio furniture options to accommodate a higher seat count, I would highly recommend 604 Wholesale in Richmond.

Get your garden ready

Last but most certainly not least, it’s time to get your garden ready for the summer season. First of all, sweep up any dead leaves, mow the lawn, remove weeds, prune bushes and plants, and keep your allotments well-watered. If your garden is looking a little bare, click here to find a planting calendar for Vancouver – I find this resource very helpful! You can stop by GardenWorks, RONA, Walmart, Canadian Tire, or Superstore to name a few in order to grab your florals / crops you’d like to plant. While this step can be a bit time consuming, the end results are absolutely worth it and will have your home feeling summer ready!
