Office Revamp

With the weather getting colder each week, having a cozy and inviting office space can make all the difference throughout the next few months. If you’d like to revamp your home office, keep reading for a few helpful tips!

To get started, I recommend doing a thorough clean in order to organize all of your office materials. Once your space is looking decluttered and organized, we can move onto the designing steps.

Breathe some life into your space.
I like to include a few plants in my office space to bring a sense of freshness and vibrancy to the room. Not only does greenery look great, but it makes your space feel more inviting as well.

It’s your space – add to it with what you love.
As Geraldine Tan, Founder & Editor of Little Big Bell explains in Real Simple, “spruce up your office by adding a gallery wall against a neutral wall. You can arrange them on the floor first, moving the prints around until you achieve the harmonious look that you want. Use removable wall strips to hold your prints up. This allows for the flexibility of changing the look of the wall.” I love this idea as it brings more of a personal touch to your office space, and should you choose to change the design of the room again, the gallery wall takedown will be super simple.

Choose colours that speak to you – not what’s trending.
By adding in pops of colour into your office, the room will look much more inviting. I’ve added a warm red throw on top of my office chair which is perfect for days that are a bit more chilly, and makes me feel like the festive holiday season is on the way. It’s important to add colours that make you happy – don’t feel pressured to only utilize colours that are trending.

Brighten up your space.
If your office has a window, try to position your desk so you’re soaking in as much light as possible when working – especially now that our days getting darker so much faster, this is incredibly important. If you don’t have a lot of natural light, then artificial lights are even more important when considering workspace illumination. As Michael Desmond explains, “many home offices have ambient lighting that includes overhead or recessed lights, but it’s a mistake to think that those will suffice. Existing ambient lighting is not designed for functional lighting in the home office, and it’s necessary to add additional sources.” Click here for five points to consider when making lighting decisions about your home office.
