Whatever your taste, there are wallpaper ideas for everyone. As Jennifer Ebert explains for Homes & Gardens, there are designs from traditional florals and trompe l’oeil, to contemporary geometric and tropical patterns or animal motifs and architectural designs.

Wallpaper is also a great option as it can provide lot of “bang for your buck” in terms of changing up the look of a space. Regardless of your home decor style, wallpaper can be vastly versatile.

As Zhush.com explains, “if you’re looking to incorporate texture into your interiors, wallpaper can be an easy way to do this.

It’s also the perfect way to create a “wow moment” in a small space, like a powder room or closet.”

Personally, incorporating wallpaper in small spaces such as a powder room or even a nursery is so appealing to me. Recently, a friend of mine remodelled her powder room and the wallpaper she chose for it did wonders for the space, bringing a sense of calm and elegance to a space which you otherwise would not have paid much attention to.

Feeling sold on the wallpaper idea?

To get started, I would suggest doing your research and finding a pattern that really resonates with you and the space you have in mind.

Great spots for inspiration are Anthropologie, DecoratorsBest, the Pattern Collective, Wallpaper Direct and WallPapers & Fabrics To Go. These all have search engines that let you filter by price, colour and other categories! As The Washington Post recommends, once you find the pattern or patterns you like, order samples BEFORE committing. Then, as you would with paint, tack options on the wall you’re thinking of bedazzling to see how they look at different times of day and whether they clash with existing furniture or fixtures.

After narrowing it down and selecting your ideal wallpaper, make sure to do careful math in order to place your purchase order. As The Washington Post further explains, “different brands are sold in different increments, depending on where they come from. You will get different coverage from a standard-size U.S. double roll (usually 21 inches wide by 33 feet long) than you will for a European one. To further confuse things, some fancy-pants companies sell products by the yard, square foot or meter. Add in pattern repeat and matching issues, and you might find yourself banging your head against a wall, not covering it in a nice fish print. If you overestimate how much you need, you can usually return unopened rolls. If you underestimate, you can always order an extra roll and finish the project later. But both tasks are hassles. DiGuiseppe sends his clients to wikihow.com/estimate-the-amount-of-wallpaper-needed for measuring help. And, of course, if you’re hiring a pro to do the work, ask them how much to buy.”
