Canada Day Long Weekend Activities

Are you looking forward to celebrating Canada’s 155th birthday? Keep reading to find out what you can do around the city this Canada Day long weekend!

To start the day, I suggest heading outdoors to enjoy the beautiful nature around us. Great hikes/trails to explore to start your day are Dog Mountain, Mount Seymour, Grouse Grind, BCMC trail, Lynn Canyon loop, or Rice lake loop to name a few. Click here if you’d like further information on these trails.

After some much needed nature time, it’s onto your late afternoon/evening plans. North Vancouver’s biggest Canada Day party will be going all day long at the Shipyards featuring live music on two stages – a great option for those of you wanting to stay within the Lower Lonsdale area tomorrow. This event will also include a patio Beer Garden presented by Stanley Park Brewing, a Retro Video Dance Party in the Pipe Shop, face painting for kids, all-ages splash park, as well as food trucks on site all day in Food Truck Lane.

While you’re in the area, I also recommend visiting The Polygon Gallery. The Polygon Gallery’s Deckchair Cinema, hosted in partnership with the City of North Vancouver, is an open-air film series that will also feature music, DJs, and special guest! Attendees are invited to bring blankets and low chairs to the film screenings on Cates Deck in front of The Polygon Gallery. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis and films begin at sundown. Entry is by donation, music and concession open at 7 pm, screenings begin at sundown.

If you’re planning a trip downtown this long weekend, Concord Pacific’s Free Family Bike Festival and Tour de Concord Cycling Race will be featuring a free family ride followed by exciting pro cyclist racing on the 850-metre track and festival grounds stretching from BC Place to the Concord Community Park by Science World today. The event will feature a main stage, a DJ, artists and race play-by-play. Attendees can also check out the obstacle courses, vendors, bike decorating, food trucks, mountain and E-bike demos, prize draws, and more.

Should you be looking for a little more adventure, I recommend visiting PNE Playland. Vancouver’s favourite amusement park is open for another season of family fun, thrills, games, attractions, and good mood food. Click here if you’d like to book your tickets! This would make for a very exciting Canada Day outing with family and friends.

I hope you have a wonderful long weekend and Canada Day!
