Outdoor Games & Family Fun!

This summer-like weather we’ve been experiencing has us all wanting to get outdoors and soak up some much needed Vitamin D after a rainy Vancouver winter!

In celebration of the warm weather we’re seeing, I’ve decided to share with you some of my favourite outdoor games for all ages. Whether you decide to play these games with your household from the comfort of your own backyard, or at your local park, I’m sure you’ll have a blast.

Cornhole

I can guarantee anyone will have tons of fun playing this game! It is conveniently transported, easy to set up, and simple to play. You can purchase a traditional Cornhole set from Canadian Tire or this lightweight, collapsible set from Amazon.

If you love Cornhole, you will love this one! For those of you that have a pool or a lake nearby, you can take cornhole into the water with BULZiBUCKET. This set from Amazon includes 2 heavy duty collapsible black and blue bucket targets, 6 hacky sacks (3 for each team), backpack carrying case, and instructions. I think this would be a ton of fun to play in a park, or near my house at a local river!

Giant Jenga

The only thing better than Jenga is giant Jenga, am I right?! You can purchase this giant jenga set from Amazon which includes 54 Giant Blocks (18 rows) and a carrying case. It is guaranteed to be a big hit with everyone in the family!

Bocce Ball

Bocce Ball is a classic when it comes to outdoor games and is ideally played at a grassy yard/park or sandy beach. The set I just purchased from Amazon includes four green balls and four red balls, as well as a white pallino and a measuring device for making close calls. There is also a convenient carrying bag so you don’t have to worry about lugging everything around in your backpack! My favourite spot to play Bocce on the North Shore is Ray Perrault Bocce Lanes. If you have a chance in the coming days to head over there to play a few rounds, I would highly suggest it.

Spikeball

Spikeball is a fun, active, and competitive (if you want it to be) 2 on 2 game. The rules are similar to volleyball, but instead of the ball going over the net, once it HITS the net the other team takes service. This game is playable on any surface, collapsible, and easily transported which makes it ideal for any setting! I played this game quite a bit last Summer and it was tons of fun! If you’re in need of an active family game, this is this. Click here to purchase yours.

Giant Pong

Simply split into two teams and place six buckets on each side arranged in a triangle then fill the buckets with sand or water to keep them in place. Each team takes turns tossing balls into opponents’ buckets to knock them out of play. You can purchase a set on Amazon, I think you will have tons of fun playing this game!

Ladder toss

Ladder toss is another game that is suitable for players of all ages. Canadian Tire sells an awesome 3-in-1 Ladderball, Disc Toss & Target Toss Set that will triple the fun of the regular game.

Giant Wooden Yard Dice
