What to do this family day

Are you getting excited for Family Day coming up Monday February 21st? Unsure how to spend your day off with your loved ones? Keep reading for a selection of activities that will get you inspired!

Head out to a Canucks game

The Canucks take on the Kraken at Rogers Arena on Monday. The Family Day game is the first regular-season matchup in Vancouver of these two teams, so it’s a marquee historic matchup in this burgeoning West Coast rivalry. Click here to purchase your tickets!

Visit local restaurants

I would highly suggest heading out to brunch this Monday – since it’s a holiday, most restaurants will be offering brunch on Monday as well. Some of my beloved brunch spots are Boulevard Bistro, Life Breakfast Bakery, and Buddha-Full Provisions (both their Lower Lonsdale and Northwoods locations have great vegan options for you to try)!

Head out for a walk in Lower Lonsdale

One of my favourite things to do in North Vancouver is grab a coffee and head down for a walk around Lower Lonsdale. The view at the bottom is unbeatable, and there’s something so relaxing about the picnic chairs and ambiance.

Explore Nature

Feeling the itch to go out with your family and furry friends and explore a new trail or two? Start off with a visit to the Lynn Loop! This riverside and forest trail loop is generally pretty dry and easy, thanks to the gravel trails that prevent mud on the lower sections. Another of my go-to’s is Hyannis Trail. I would highly recommend this popular trail as it has only minimal changes in elevation and is well suited to everyone regardless of age or ability. As All Trails explains, “surrounded by many massive old growth trees, this trail travels through an exceptionally green and beautiful forest. Mystery Creek marks the trail’s end with a separate short path down to the creek’s edge for closer viewing. Dogs off leash are permitted along this trail, which also has water bowls and a tap conveniently located close to the trailhead. Parking is available at a small lot at the trailhead along with street parking along Hyannis Drive. Finding an empty space will usually not be an issue on even the busiest day.”

I hope you enjoy my Family Day activity suggestions! Wishing you all a wonderful and relaxing weekend ahead.
