One of the most significant attributions to your bedroom is the paint colour you choose. Paint often sets the tone of how you want your room to feel, whether it’s light and airy, warm and inviting, or vibrant and full of life. To get you started, here is a range of expertly chosen Benjamin Moore paint colours suggested for bedrooms.

Without a doubt, your wall colour is very significant – however, it’s important to keep in mind your ceiling shade as well. As Benjamin Moore explains, “especially in a small room or a room with a lower ceiling, lighter ceiling paint colours can make a room look larger and taller. We love Summer Shower 2135-60, Beacon Gray 2128-60, and Hollingsworth Green HC-141. Look for a ceiling colour that’s a lighter shade or slight variation of your wall colour.”

Now that we have our colours sorted, it’s time to move onto wall texture. Wall texture design has changed the way we look at colour schemes, depth, dimension and design. As Nerolac explains, “texture design for bedrooms can emit whatever aura you want, on the basis of the style chosen. Exposed walls, concrete walls, uneven walls, faux brick wall textures, geometric textures, panelling and distressed walls are some of the popular modern wall texture designs for bedrooms.” Personally, I love the idea of adding wall texture, especially to your primary bedroom. I’ve been considering adding wood panelling to one of the walls in my bedroom, or shiplap to tie the bedroom and living room design together. There’s something about this added texture that truly elevates the space!

Now that we have our walls fully sorted, it’s time to move onto design. Everything from your nightstands, bed, sheets, pillows, throws, wall art, additional seating, texture, lighting, makes a significant difference.

Select the overall colour palette you’d like to design your bedroom with, then source pieces that correlate with the mood. Designers often recommend tossing mismatched pillows onto your bed and chairs, doubling down on fuzzy linens, and adding a comfortable and warming rug to ensure your bedroom doesn’t fall flat. For example, this boho inspired primary bed is simple yet so inviting and relaxing – plus it covers two major design factors: colour and texture.
