Flu Fighting Form – Super Foods & Vinegar

Like most of you, Jenny and I have fought hard this flu season. We have been hit and so have our families. This season seems to be exceptionally hard with most flus lasting a few weeks and leading to other things like sinus infections and ear infections.

We found some good Better Homes and Gardens’ links about Super Foods to help you and your family do battle and keep in fighting form. Please see the end of this article for the links.

We have personally found Buckleys (capsule form thank you!), sambucol, DayQuil, Emergen-C, Throat Coat and Cepacol to be especially helpful. Please talk to your pharmacist and doctor to make sure you get the right medication or over the counter products to treat your symptoms. We are not health care professionals.

Another tip: put one part water and one part white vinegar on the stove to simmer. According to DavidSuzuki.org, white vinegar kills 80 per cent of germs. LifeHacker.com claims vinegar can be used to disinfect the air by boiling on the stove. Keep an eye on it so it doesn’t boil over. You can also use one part vinegar to one part water.

We hope the flu missing you and your loved ones this season.
