Garage Organization

Lawn Equipment

Let’s start with lawn equipment as these are the tools we’re currently using the most. As Good Housekeeping suggests, “rather than leaning your lawn tools against the wall, place shovels, rakes, pruning shears, and other garden go-tos on a pegboard panel. That way you’ll have a permanent reminder to finally do the yard work you’ve been putting off.” I think this is also a great organizational trick as I often find myself digging through items to find specific lawn tools, and everything ends up falling on top of one another.

Garden Station

If you have the space to do so, creating a small garden station in your garage is great for any gardening needs you have. I would love to create a small space to do this myself, for simple tasks such as creating wooden pot holders for my patio pots, or repotting some of my smaller plants. Not only does this help keep the mess out of your indoor spaces, it’s also a fun addition to your garage!

Cabinet Organization

It’s shocking how much built in cabinetry makes a difference. This doesn’t need to be a pricey update, you can actually design and build your own customized organization system through IKEA. I recently did this DIY project for the closets in my home and it has made everything much easier to find, store, and of course organize! Doing this in a garage space would be extremely beneficial, and it’s likely you could have the cabinet or bin system set up and ready to roll in just 1-2 days.

Metal Shelving Units

If you have concrete block walls that aren’t conducive to wall-mounted shelves or are renting and want something you can take with you when you leave, Just A Girl And Her Blog recommends these super sturdy metal shelves by Gladiator.

Start Labeling

Adding labels to storage boxes saves so much time and frustration when you’re heading to the garage to quickly grab an item. Adhesive and removable labels are the way to go for me in case I want to reuse a specific storage box for another purpose.

Bike Storage

As Vancouverites, we love to be outdoors and exploring the greenery around us. If you’re a bike lover, this hack is for you. Rather than installing an overhead bike storage system, consider nailing a bike rack straight into the wall in order to keep everyones bikes within reach and very easily accessible. Clean Up Those Tools

Have a ton of tools laying around your garage? Invest in a rolling toolbox – this will make any DIY project so much easier and remove a lot of clutter! I recently purchased a rolling toolbox with three levels of storage from Home Depot in Park Royal, it wasn’t pricey and I’m extremely happy with it. What was once taking up an abundance of space all over my home is now clean and tidy in my tool box.

I hope these tips on garage organization were helpful! Do you have any recommendations when it comes to cleaning up and bringing structure to a garage? Leave your tips in the comments below, I’d love to hear them.
